We pay our property manager 30% of the nightly fee, they collect and keep the cleaning fee and taxes from the renter. The management company covers all of the supplies and handles all aspects of the rental process. They are incredibly good at what they do and keep our cabin rented all the time. In February it was rented 21 out of 28 days and has been rented all but 1 weekend since September.

My daughter and I are involved in National Charity League and we have been in the unfortunate position of having to obtain silent auction items for our fundraising events. I am sure that this person has reached out to many STR's in the area hoping someone will bite. If you believe in the charity I think it is a great way to offer support, if not I would just say not at this time and move on.

Hello,

I have a quick question about STR insurance providers. We closed escrow on our Lake Arrowhead cabin with second home insurance not realizing we need a policy that covers STR's. Unfortunately due to the fires in Ca. we are having a heck of a time finding anyone to insure us. The only company so far has been Lloyds of London with a premium that is very very expensive. CBIZ will give us business liability but not fire insurance. Any ideas?

Thanks

Denise

So we ended up buying a place in Arrowhead, spent more than we had planned but really love the cabin. We are going to use the seller to manage for us for a while to get our feet wet, they do a great business and have some perks to make the property more enticing that we wouldn't be able to offer, like a dock and kayak / SUP use. Right now hoping to at least cover a good portion of the expenses, we decided we would give it a year and reevaluate. Thank you all for all the great advice so appreciate you all for taking the time to reply.

Also if you Google this, the vast majority say it's just another sales scam.

I am not sure which property you are talking about but $100,000 seems incredibly expensive for 5 weeks. We spent spring break at a Vidanta property in Playa Del Carmen and paid only 300 for the week through a vacation reward company. My feeling is that these resorts are huge and people who can't use their weeks end up basically giving them away. Another concern I have is that my sister purchased a timeshare in Cabo and she was basically told a pack of lies to get her to buy it, much of the selling points were not true and she ended up having zero recourse when she tried to get out of it. I would say cancel.

Thank you! I will look at Airdna. @Jonathan Guzi, any areas in particular your are narrowing down your search to? Just curious if you think it is important to be near the village, you do pay quite a premium for that.

Hello,

Looking for some feedback/advice on a STR in the Lake Arrowhead area. My husband and I love the area and for our long-term use would prefer this area over Big Bear. My question is can anyone provide info on how many days per year I can estimate it will be rented? We plan on buying something close to the village, upgrading it nicely, etc.

Thank you all for any information you can provide!
