I completely agree! Dover, Portsmouth, Nashua, even down to the condition of streets and sidewalks. This solely on market research and upcoming move to the Upper Valley region.
I fear it's going to be hard to relocate my family and actually purchase a smart investment since the College owns the town. I'm excited for all the opportunities, the natural beauty, and top notch education but it's looking like a small 3BR/2BA condo towards the lake region for a buy and hold may be the best option. That for the short term until I can find a "forever" home with hopes at seasonal rental after the fact.
If you have knowledge or can connect me with resources in the Upper Valley region, I'd be obliged. I have a good 6 months before move. Summer 2021 is the target.
Thanks for the information. It sounds spot on!

@Daniel Judge
Agreed!!
@Susie Evans
I wholeheartedly disagree. And I’m a FL native. Columbus is nothing like Detroit. Every place has its ghettos but Columbus is not ghetto.
There are many things to enjoy in Columbus, from their beautiful zoo, COSI, Germantown, and they have a thriving LGBTQ community.
@Jimmy Lieu
If I were going to give you a comparison, Columbus as a whole would be like the suburb of Beaverton near you. If that’s your thing go for it!
You won’t be seeing views of Mt. Hood or Mt. Rainier. There is no such thing as Powell’s bookstore. But you have just as many dog lovers and Subaru owners.
. The climates are much different and Columbus is relatively flat. Susie is right, there are basically two seasons. Not near the rain you get out Portland which means scenery is nothing like lush green trees, crisp mornings, or happening places to hear local bands.
The vibes are different between Portland and Columbus. You should have no trouble finding Airbnb. Spend a long weekend having a look around.
Best of luck!
