Hey, I am brand new to real estate and I'd love to meet people in the area and learn from those who are further ahead on their journeys. I'd definitely make time to show up.

I just used the bigger pockets rental calculator for the first time while watching and following a webinar. I can see the numbers and they'd definitely work for a deal, but how do I know I did everything correctly and got all the inputs right?

@Jon Kelly I actually know this person because they're my second cousin and I don't really know them and didn't know the fact that they were into real estate. I'm seeing them at thanksgiving party and I thought I'd use that chance to get to know them. I personally like the idea of ownership of properties and long term holds. I'd want to know more about rehabs and the construction side of real estate because as of right now, I'd have no idea what rehabs cost.

@Aaron W. @Heigo Protten @Pat Dansdill Thank you guys for responding. I just wanted a few general questions to try and guide the conversation and to try and get a peek inside their head to understand how they think about real estate. In the end, I want to seem genuine so the questions are just to help me a bit.

I am seeing someone who has a lot more experience than me soon and I want to pick their brain to see how they view real estate, but when I think about questions I could ask them, I find it hard to come up with anything.

Are there any questions that you suggest I ask them?

@Bruce Woodruff No, I get it, and you’re right. I haven’t done any deals and I am being very optimistic to assume I’d succeed by just jumping in. Even then, I think everyone starts somewhere, and I’m confident that I would make mostly correct decisions when I do decide to make a purchase. To prepare for when that time comes, I’m reading books, watching YouTube videos, and on bigger pockets and I know it won’t replace actual experience  but those are just the steps I’m taking right now.

@Ryan Thomson I agree about education being huge especially for someone new like me who doesn’t know what they don’t know and thanks! I’ll definitely check those podcasts out and take notes. Again thank you for taking time out of your day to respond!

@Grace Wang Thank you! I’ll definitely read that book next and educate myself as much as I can.
