Not an option, unfortunately; previous owner will not negotiate rights with me because I declined to buy them before the auction.  Revenge, I guess.

So far, so good.  Bought splendid home at sheriff's auction after foreclosure; now (in Oregon, at least) the previous owner has 180 days to redeem the property, paying me (via the Sheriff, I guess) the auction price plus change.  Meanwhile I am camping out in the house; but since the law specifies the redemption notice to the sheriff has to be filed no more than 30 days in advance, or no less than 2 days in advance, I cannot figure out how much warning I will have that I have lost the house and have to be out on the street (another rich homeless person, how weird!).  As far as I can tell there's no way I can defeat the redemption (short of buying the redemption rights for several times the auction price), but if I have to move out 2 days after I receive the papers I better start packing now!  Anybody been through the practical application of the law in a situation like this?
