@Anthony Dooley thank you for the response. I have had the same thought, I just didn’t know if it would be more valuable to do something that involves real estate so I can sort of practice along the way, but i do agree with you

I am 21 years old, and have been working for camps since I was 14. When I was 18, I started listening to the BP podcasts, and it really sparked an interest in REI. I have spent the past three years learning all I can about the world of real estate and personal finance in general, while still working full time for a couple different camps.

I am now at a great point to get out of this field and look for one where I can learn more about what really interests me, and possibly also earn some capital along the way for my own investments. I have been considering applying at property management companies, but I just want to know what the best option is. Any tips or input would be greatly appreciated.

@Conner Bland I like that idea, thank you! I am probably going to be moving to Cape Girardeau Missouri. Not a big city, but much larger than where I am now, and a better market. It is also a college town, and I know a lot of students there. I will be looking for a job as well, and would really like to be able to find something that still has to do with real estate, so I can keep learning and making connections. I need to figure out where to start with that process as well.

@Conner Bland thank you for your input. I completely agree. I am currently trying pretty hard (mostly on here admittedly) to find those people, and connect with them. I have always lived in a very very rural area, with nobody around that fits that description, but I am gearing up to move to a city much larger, and one of my first priorities is to find good mentors, and good potential partners.

Any tips on finding the right ones?

I am 21 years old, and have been soaking us as much as I can about real estate investing, and general personal finance for the past 3 years.

What is something you wish you could go back and tell your 21 year old self?

I have been learning as much as I can while living and working full time at a camp in southeast Missouri. I am about to leave the camp, and move to Cape Girardeau. Looking to meet other investors to be able to meet and ask questions.

Also, any tips on jobs to look for for someone who loves learning and working with real estate? I have the awesome opportunity for a fresh start in a new place, and want to set myself up for success in REI, especially starting off at the age of 21.

I have lived in Missouri most of my life, but my family is all from Pennsylvania and New Jersey. I absolutely love Philadelphia, and want to live in or near there. I am moving out this way next year, and I am planning my journey as early as I can, I only have a few questions. 1) any suggestions for where to look and what to look for when starting out near Philly? 2) would it be better to live with a friend or family, or try to buy a house? 3) I see all the time that duplexes are very suggested. Is there anywhere that I should look for duplexes that would be great. 4) (I know this is asked a lot) Should I get my license if I need a job, and try to get hired as an agent somewhere?

Yeah, Edwin, those are great thoughts, and I would definitely be willing to take on the two hour drive one of these days if you were willing just to kind of talk to me, maybe answer some questions and guide me a little. All help, and guidance is very much appreciated.

I'm 18 years old, and want to learn all I can, and get started investing. I live in a small town in Missouri. I would like to be able to find a mentor (who wouldn't?) the only struggle is I'm not sure my worth. I know how people who are in the position to teach others are looking for someone of value, and I'm sure I have plenty, I just need guidance to find that. I am very passionate about investing and am very willing to learn.
