Hey David, welcome to BiggerPockets! I always recommend the book "Rich dad, Poor dad" by Robert T. Kiyosaki to anyone starting out. Start listening to the BiggerPockets podcast starting at the very beginning. Start growing your network, look on Facebook/BiggerPockets for different events. Also, do try to attend your local REI networking groups and meetups. Connect with as many real estate investors as you can.
You can also consult with lenders, brokers and ask them for suggestions on who might be a good real estate mentor most will be able to provide one.

Try to think of different ways you can add value to that person. What are your strengths? For example are you experienced in social media marketing? Could you offer a mentor some tips? This way its not just a one way street.

Thank you, I will definitely be in contact with as many people as I can to build a solid networking experience.

Welcome to BP! I am also new here from the Southwest Florida region (born and raised - a rare breed here)! I wish you great success. Never been to SD, it sounds absolutely beautiful though. Do you have a strategy written down yet with numbers that you need to reach?

Hello, my family and I were just in Florida for a vacation in clear water Beach. An amazing time.  Could you give me more information on strategy and numbers? I'm very new here, lol but am a very fast learner

Network as much as possible. That has been the best part of my real estate business because you never know who you will meet.

 Thank you, I will!

@David Mesteth, that's great to hear about your investment strategy. Which market are you in haha? Knowing where you will be investing can open up a network of opportunities and connections for you. Real estate agents, lenders, contractors, CPAs, title companies, property managers, etc. Real estate investing is very locally oriented. It's all about having the right team working for you and your business.

Lol, sorry. I would prefer for my first couple properties to be local to my area of Sioux Falls,  SD
