I am looking at ways to acquire commercial property that can be repurposed and renovated in San Diego and exploring value add and opportunistic strategies. Does anyone have any experience of implementing them? Can you give me case studies and ideally play-by-plays or links to articles?

Scenario: 
I own a 25% stake in a property in the UK. 
It is not rented. 
It is only used for family use. 
I live in California. 

Question: 
Am I liable for any taxes either in the US?
