Basically, I want to make sure that my tenants will be able to pay if one of them ups and leaves, disappears, or gets hit by a bus.

Is it ok to require minimum income of 5x for household and let's say 2x for individual? They will both be required. Meaning, if a single person applies, he/she will need 5x income. If 4 roommates apply, they will need 2x individually (totals to 6x) and 5x total.

But, if, for example, 2 people apply... 1 person with 1x and second person with 3x, I can reject them.  Same if 6 people apply with 5 making 0x, and 1 making 20x. I still want to reject that.

I'm not sure if this would fall under FHA discrimination of some sorts. I definitely want to avoid that.
