@Caleb Bryant Thanks for the insight. Recently I have tried searching craigslist for listings of rentals. By eliminating those that are represented by property management companies, I am hoping to narrow down the search to more owner listings. Driving/walking neighborhoods aside, are there other strategies that you have used in the past that you recommend?

@Timothy Meuse Thanks for sharing. What lead you to buy in Salem after searching in the Wakefield/Stoneham/Melrose area? Do you find that you are renting to more college students, or young professionals? I know that Salem is an up and coming area outside of Boston.

@Jacob Geller &@David Maddeford

Have you guys already begun your search for Multi-Family properties? If so, what resources are you utilizing in your search? I have tried Realtor.com, craigslist.com, loopnet.com, and Zillow.

And are you looking only in Melrose? I have noticed more and more multi-families in town, but hardly any for sale.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome and support. Great to hear that others in the area have similar goals. I really need to study the local market and learn as much as possible. Cant wait to take advantage of everything BP has to offer!!

Hi everyone,

Heard about BP from a friend and have been listening to the podcasts ever since. I am new to the real estate investing world. 26 years old and currently living in Melrose, MA (02176), I am looking to invest in a multi-family home in one of the surrounding neighborhoods. Looking to gain knowledge and resources as I explore new investment avenues thanks to BP and real estate.

Any help or direction would be much appreciated!
