I too missed out on the event @Avi Garg. How did it go and are you planning to host another one anytime soon?

Post: WHO ARE YOU? What do you do besides real estate?

I am in IT security and compliance during the day.

@Terry Lao Agree that Sparks has already gone up quite a bit but given the potential job growth including Google also moving into the area, there should be more room to run imho. And yes, i am more focus on appreciation than CF for this particular purchase since my other option is to use this either as a airbnb or a family vacation home. If CF is the focus then definitely multi-units would be the preferred choice like your case in LV.

I invested in Sparks (next to Reno) and just purchased a SFR @Terry Lao. Its a brand new so still being built at the moment. I am going to look into multi-units depending how well this one does. Dave

Please keep me posted for the upcoming event as well. I just got started investing in Nevada and would love to learn from others and share my ideas.

My wife and I made a trip to Reno/Sparks area this past weekend and purchased our first property in one day. It's a brand new property in the wingfield springs area and still a pile of dirt at the moment. The house will completed by Nov. and hopefully just in time before the winter hits so that we can make a few weekend getaways to our home away from home before it comes a rental. Sorry @Michael S. Helton that I didn't get a chance to ping you this time since it was a rush trip as we probably saw close to 20 properties in one day but I will definitely make more trips up there and will send you a msg. Thanks everyone who contributed to this post and will share my experience along the way.

@Dave Ya Drop me a line if you come into town and I will buy you a coffee or beer at one of my favorite watering holes.

Here is an interesting article that was a follow-up to the announcement of Google buying 1200 acres last week.  Two things I would add:

1) I have talked to a number of commercial property managers who have been fielding an increased volume of international investor calls since the Google purchase.

2)  The University has been building and adding to its curricula the last couple years in partnership with Tesla/Panasonic.  However, I was driving around yesterday and saw lots of building both on and off campus.  A cutting edge learning center (Libraries are no more) and fitness center just finished and a massive new dorm is under construction.

The pillars of growth for a strong economy (and real estate market) are in place.

Thanks for the info and I'll definitely send you a message when I am in town.

I plan to do some scouting around the Reno/Sparks area in the next couple of weeks as I prefer to see the neighborhood and its surroundings before making a move. If job is being created and hopefully there will be some from the tech sector, then I believe there will be some $ inflow into the area that will continue the gradual RE appreciation. Just my 2cents and look forward to hear more opinions from others.
