@Warner Alexander like some have said, bonding is not always required so many GCs will only bond by the project. Even in the commercial construction space most GCs and subs will bond by the project and only when required for much larger projects.

From a trade perspective, it is not bad for all of the items you are buying and the labor involved. Quality tradesmen are hard to get scheduled these days and you will pay a little more for the good ones.
