Way to go! Your story is an inspiration to many. I've yet to seek out my first deal, still working full time. I have money saved in a brokerage account doing okay with some mutual funds, want to start doing REI to supplement income and create possibilities. So far, I've Registered an LLC (legalzoom), got the website up (godaddy), po box (usps), business phone (freedom voice), business bank account and credit card (wellsfargo). I'm listening to audio books and reading online. I'm looking at real estate license classes. At what point do you pull the trigger and seek out the first deal? Is it like having a child, you're never ready, just have to jump in? What was your first deal like and how'd you get the guts to go for it?

Thanks Brandy. 5 children, way to go! What are their ages and boys or girls? My kids are always anxious to meet new friends their age.  I'll DM you to get a chance to meet you and your husband.  I'm interested to know his ideas on getting the classes done. I like the Winn School of Real Estate, its close by and have night classes.  5:30p-8:30p mon-fri for ~2 months. The challenge I'm trying to overcome is when I must travel for my regular job.  Usually 1 week at a time, and likely 2 weeks a quarter....  I could end up missing a week of class and have to make that up.  Another challenge is needing to goto Scottsdale 1-2 times a week.   Going to make for some really long days (wake at 4:30a, drive to Scottsdale, 7a-3p work, drive to Prescott, 5:30p-8:30p class - I'll be home just in time to tuck my kiddos into bed).....  but heck, its only 2 months, if I want it bad enough, I'll make it happen.  Maybe I'll put the real estate license idea on hold, b/c, as you said, its not required to get into real estate investing.

Just moved to Williamson Valley (Prescott) Arizona with my wife and two children in July 2016. My kids are 10 and 12 years old and attending Granite Mountain and Prescott Mile High schools. I've worked at GoDaddy in Scottsdale AZ for 14 years in a variety of technical and management roles, developing small business web applications. GoDaddy has been wonderful, and now I'm looking to get started in real estate investing, while continuing to work for GoDaddy. I'm super new to real estate, only have experience buying/selling my own primary residence. Thinking of getting real estate license, but struggling with finding the time for the classes. Looking for the best way to get started in real estate investing in a community friendly way.

On a side note, love to offroad with Jeep and Blazer. Taking the family on some dirt roads up the west side of Granite Mountain today. We live on the east side and can see Granite Mountain from our house, and are super curious what its like on the west side!  Although today's adventure will be very easy, we often seek out difficult trails.
