@Account Closed the property taxes are reassessed every year here in Georgia.     I think thats a good deal how they do it in CA.  Thanks guys for the responses, it's all good info.

@Mark Vejnar thanks for the advice.  I will defenately give them a call or visit.

Thanks @Michael Mcghee I will check out the assessed value.  Maybe thats why the taxes seem off to me.

Good evening BP. I have a question about property taxes. To my knowledge I thought the amount of property taxes paid each year was based on the value of the property itself, and maybe a few other factors but mainly property value. I saw a house recently listed for 840,000 and the property taxes are only 4,477. Another property with a value of 360,000 has property taxes of 5,500 a year. These properties are in two different counties. Is the local government ripping someone off or am I missing something. Thanks in advance for any attempt to make me smarter. LOL Dave

Good morning James, take a look at the BP rental property assessment tool on this site. It will take you through step by step and get you some good good numbers to make an educated decision. I'm a newbie as well, I think this tool is very helpful.

Awesome story!
