Hi Bigger Pockets community!
I am a recent graduate (May 2016), and I recieved my bachelor's degree in Marine Biology. I've decided that I would like to pursue real estate investing as soon as possible in order to build long-term wealth (I'm currently in the saving phase). However, I've determined that biology is no longer a passion of mine, and would like to change careers. Ideally I want to pursue something that will give me experience/knowledge that can be translated to my future real estate investing business.
I've considered getting my real estate license and pursuing that career, although I live in NYC and real estate is highly competitve here from my understanding. It will also take capital to advertise etc. and I'm not sure if I'm ready for that. Additionally, I would likely be investing out of state so I'm sure if being licensed in NY would be as helpful to me.
My question is: Do you have any suggestions of other career paths I can pursue (that will give me knowledge/experience that can be translated to real estate investing) with little to no more schooling necessary? I'd prefer not to spend more money on college if I can avoid it.
I've considered real estate, going back to school for accounting, and economics. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks all!
