Hey @Jess Weatherholt, another Georgian - nice! 

There is so much to learn in real estate investing, but a common theme I keep reading and hearing is that you have to start someone and get your toes wet. Set yourself a target for capital, be frugal,  keep learning, and get started. Also consider that you can partner with others which helps reduce the need for high cash up front. Since I am sure there are a ton of expat investors out there and a seemingly minimal amount of information on the web, hey maybe I'll start a blog once I make my first investment.

In the meantime, stay in touch - would be happy to help however I can and run ideas by one another.

I am a US expat living abroad (and plan on staying abroad) and I am fairly new to BiggerPockets. I only recently became involved with real estate after taking a fascinating course on personal finance. 

I have managed to save a substantial amount of money and am going to purchase my first property this year. The biggest hurdle that I am facing (and I yet to find much information on the web about) is how to overcome the hurdles of investing and managing a property from abroad. This includes but is not limited to: taxes, money transfers, property management, finding the right investment from afar, etc.

I would love to hear your thoughts on how one can achieve financial freedom while living thousands of miles away from the United States.
