Hey @Christine Wong, thanks for the welcome! Honestly I'm too new to the investment game to really have a full strategy laid out (still reading, learning and formulating), but I will likely be looking at rental properties outside the city to get started (unless of course I come across a great sponsor unit in a new condo conversion!). Prices in the city are out of control, though there may be some good investment opportunities uptown where rent prices are out-pacing sales prices.... at least for now.

My company specializes in the upper Manhattan market for rentals, but we do have full access to sales listings throughout the city of course, and have done deals in Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx. Let's certainly connect. I'm happy to help if you're looking for an agent or advice. Good luck in your search!

Hi all,

Site newcomer saying hi!

I found this forum because I am planning to grow my real estate business in 2016 by purchasing my own investment properties, either in New York and surrounding areas or in my native California. Though I do own one rental property in San Diego county that I inherited from my mother, I'm basically a total newbie to this part of the business and I'm really looking forward to learning the ropes. I'm sure this site, and the posts from experienced investors in the forums, will be invaluable!

I've been a licensed real estate salesperson in NYC since 2009. I am now a full-time trainer and manager at Bohemia Realty Group, a boutique firm specializing in residential apartments in upper Manhattan. If anyone is considering getting their license in NY, I'm happy to answer any questions about becoming a rental and sales agent in the city. Feel free to hit me up!

Good luck everyone. I'm looking forward to learning from you all!
