Well done Devan!  Success stories such as yours serve as an inspiration and proof that it can be done.  Need more info on the "yellow letters" so I'll search thru the archives.  Again, well done.

Hey Chris, why do you say you're not sure you would do it again?  It worked didn't it?

@Chris Simmons thanks a ton!  That's what the original post was about.  You are using CC to fund the purchase of property so what are the mechanics?  Do you write a balance transfer check to yourself and deposit the money in your checking account ala Jd Martin? If so, how long does it take to get the money transferred?

Thanks Ned!  Since I intend to add flipping to my repitoire the CC will come in handy after all.  Using cash advances will be an option of last resort due to the fees and high interest rates.  I want to keep things simple for now.

OK.  I have excellent credit ( 780 ) and numerous credit cards with a total credit availability around 150k.  Question: how can I effectively use the credit available to me in my real estate investor business?  Cash advances are expensive so I don't want to do that but how else can I take advantage of the credit cards?

Thanks for the report JJ, it's always nice to hear success stories. @koi Saephanh I understand.  Residential retail is slow right now and dealing with buyers and sellers is like pulling teeth!  I'm in my first year of investing too because after 11 yrs in the retail side I'm burned out.

Hi Brian,

Wow!  Sounds like you are a valuable resource in the Chicago area and I would love to find a deal there.  Since you're in the business if you come across any deals that might be worth considering I'd be glad to review them and hopefully work out a deal with you.  I was contacted  awhile back about some multi-unit rehab/renov projects over in the Chicago Lawn area by Midway but that's not my thing yet. If you're interested I can send you the point of contact.

Hi Liz,

Thanks for the contact. I'm not looking to change brokers yet but I have an open mind. Do you belong to any local REI groups?

Greetings! My real name is Dan Hill. Not the Canadian singer/songwriter just a Northern Virginia real estate agent. ;) As a new member to the group I don't have much to offer yet but I look forward to seeing what others have to say. I've been a licensee in VA for 11 yrs but most of my experience is in residential retail sales. I was bit by the investor bug about 2 yrs ago when I participated in my first flip. Fortunately my son-in-law and his brother were experienced flippers so they did most of the grunt work. My wife and I recently enrolled in an investor training program through SuccessPath and it's been an amazing experience in itself. I'm excited about getting involved in my first deal and look forward to sharing my experiences with others here. I've lived in the Tidewater area of Virginia, Long Island, Omaha, South Texas, the Florida Panhandle, Missouri and Upstate New York. I've worked in San Francisco, San Diego, Calgary, Kansas City and Houston. I've got family in New York, Arizona, Nevada, Minnesota and Florida. I'll develop my connections in all of those places to birddog deals so if any of you are interested in those areas just let me know!
