@Ira Sullivan Also, you can check with your local Historic Society or the municipality’s historic division. There are specific requirements in restoring such homes.

@Ira Sullivan Of course the home is more valuable. Verify the values of homes in the area and offer a decent price, considering repairs, of course. Some owner’s don’t have the funds to restore home to it’s former glory (of course, if that be the case), and they may see this as an opportunity to make a profit and move on. It really depends on the person. Some people esteem one thing more than another.

@Steve B.

Believe it or not, homes can be purchased at that priced, rehabbed and rented. It really does help to have someone on the ground, familiar with the city to tell you areas to invest in. So much development is taking place here; there’s plenty of opportunities awaiting interested investors. Of course, at that price you’re less likely to have a gem in an historical district, but many opportunities are here.

@Jonne Washington

Yes there are good neighborhoods but it’s not common to get anything at $5600 in those areas; they’re historical. I have several properties with tenants on both east and west sides of Detroit available. It is also advantageous to have property management, but you can have auto payments set up and contractors to maintain property repairs.

I've been looking at the New Hampshire area for investing.  Anyone suggestions of good areas for investing?
