Thanks for all your welcoming words!

I look forward to my experience.

@Jon H. I have RE investor friends in the Birmingham area. I'd like to connect with them and learn a little of their business plan. Let me know how your work there goes.

@Paul Timmins Thanks for the book recommendations.

Thanks to everyone else, sorry if I can't list all of you by name. I'm working on my plan and so far am leaning towards small MF housing. I'm intrigued by student housing as well. Having been on GSU campus for my masters got me interested in that market. Anyone one here with experience in that niche?

Happy New Year to you all.

CS

Hello everyone,

My name is Chris Swanson and I live in the Atlanta metro area, Newnan to be specific. I've taught high school economics for 11 years and labored through a couple of grad school programs, most recently an MS in finance that I'll finish up this year.

Outside of being a homeowner (and a partial owner of family land) I am new to real estate investing. I've had an interest for a long time but feel that now is the time to start acting on it. I have a lot to learn and look forward to gleaning all I can from this site--and any recommended resources--before I start taking small steps to become my own investor.

I'm mostly interested in investing for income as a means of supplementing and diversifying my retirement. But I'm open to learning other methods, too: flipping & wholesales, short sales, etc.

I look forward to learning from all of you and then hopefully putting that knowledge to work. Then I can help out a future newbie as payback!

Happy New Year to everyone.
