Jerrod,

One of my goals is to create an e-book to drive email subscribers. I haven't started it yet but have started gathering ideas for it. Great piece of advice as well.

Scott,

I agree with everything you've said. Consistency is quite hard to achieve but I've been pretty good about it so far. Otherwise, right now I'm focused on writing content that I know others like me are looking for. Down the line, I'll write as I learn and grow, making sure that my writing style and content are fantastic.

Thank you all for suggestions!

Like I mentioned above, I'm looking to build backlinks.. Any advice there?

Cody and John,

The SEO plugin has been great so far, and I do have a couple main focus keywords that I researched through google planner. I've also chosen a couple of long tail keywords to rank for where I can.

I really appreciate the reading on the skyscraper technique, that's one I haven't yet come across, it appears to be valuable and I will work on that for sure.

The Moz content I have read multiple times and am working on building links as much as I can right now.

Post: How Does a 22 Year Old Add Value for a Big Shot CRE Broker?

Hello all,

I feel as though I'm in a pretty good position. I interned for a small but rapidly growing Commercial Real Estate Firm last summer and one of, if not the top broker at the company has asked me to work under him upon my return from a 6 month stint in Melbourne, Australia.

Generally, 3 years as a property manager is a prerequisite for a broker at this firm, so I feel blessed to have such an opportunity.

However, my internship didn't teach me much about how to be a broker in commercial real estate, and I don't want to drag this guy down more than I manage to contribute.

Here's what I've got so far:

--Cold Calling --> I cold call now in Australia, so I'm getting some good practice and should be motivated to get after it again when I get back to the states.

--Start a Blog --> I've stared a blog to firstly provide valuable content for other cre professionals, but also to build my presence and document my path starting from scratch in the world of commercial real estate.

--Learn when I can --> I listen to podcasts on the train every morning and evening. I listen to a lot, and am excited that I've finally found Bigger Pockets!

--Read --> I don't like reading fiction. Sorry I'm not sorry to the Harry Potter tribe, but I'd rather spend my time reading relevant news articles, business books, forums posts, etc.

--Network --> As I'm doing with this post, I'm reaching out to anyone and everyone in an attempt to connect with others like me, and especially experienced pros. With that being said, please send me a colleague request and a short message!

So what do you think? What else should I be doing now, and what should I expect to be doing when I start in December?

Hello Bigger Pockets,

I've recently started my own blog to provide a forum for commercial real estate professionals to share successes and failures, as well as find some inspiration when the times get tough.

However, I'm having trouble driving traffic to my blog, and while I've done plenty of research on SEO and other marketing techniques, I haven't seen much traffic.

So I wanted to interact with you all to see if you have any tips, and get some personalized help. If you have any experience building a website, please share how it went, what you leaned etc. here, I'd really appreciate it.

Cheers,

Michael

Note that if you are going to go the PPC route, you better use the google planner tool beforehand to identify the best keywords to back.

You are effectively buying traffic from specific keywords, so do your research to make sure you are targeting the proper audience.

The more niche the keyword, the higher your conversion rate when it comes to the clicks you receive. Not only will you get more conversions, but you will be paying less for it.

Hello all,

I'm new to the Bigger Pockets platform, but I'm glad I've finally found it. What a great resource for all real estate professionals to get together to share questions and answers to real world obstacles.

I brought up this topic in a forum last week but was taken down as I posted the url to my blog. Guess that's a no no.

Regardless, I want to get your take on the importance of influence in real estate.

Some of you may be familiar with John Lee Dumas, a podcaster that gets upwards of 100,000 downloads for each episode he releases, 7 days a week. Not bad.

I believe he is revolutionizing the world with his podcast focusing on entrepreneurs and their stories. It's evident that he enjoys simply talking with people like him and hearing about their journey, and he has inspired me to start my own podcast here in a couple of months.

My question to you all is whether you think something like this can work in real estate? Obviously this platform has proven that it can, and I think there's many more on the way.

John posts his income reports these days and comes out with around $250,000 a month!

He loves talking to entrepreneurs and has a far reaching influence that clearly turns into a generous amount of profit for him.

So my first post is mostly out of curiosity. What do you guys think about this business model in the world of real estate?
