I also think meeting every month, as opposed to every other month, would be beneficial to all.

@Troy Knight, @Nasar Elarabi, Hey guys, just a little input from a new guys perspective..
I am fairly new to the area, and plan to begin investing here this year. I started attending REI meetings in Grand Rapids, Mi. last year and really liked the format they used. They began with 15-20 minutes of open socializing, then what they did was go around the room and have everybody introduce themselves, what they do, and give any `Haves & Wants`. For example, they could say what deals they may have currently, or what they are looking for...That way everybody can take notes to see who they may want to pursue further conversation with later. Then they would have maybe a 30 Minute presentation from somebody in a different area of investing each meeting, such as, an investor with a lot of experience, a property manager, a realtor, a banker/PM lender, etc... This format gave both new and experienced investors a great way to get to know the group, learn, and network with a semi-structured format.

Hey all!
The big question..Do I partner with a friend to begin Investing? I am doing a lot of learning/research/networking to develop my goals and business plan. He has a construction background, with a lot of contractor contacts/relationships. We would both put capital in. I would focus on finding the properties and the exit plan, and he would handle all the rehab, from estimating to finish. I am working full time currently so I have limited time and he is self employed and much more free time and flexibility. I know there probably many more details needed to give me some good advice, so please any questions or comments would be very helpful. Thanks!!

Hey Drew, Welcome to GR! I hope you enjoy all it has to offer! As far as that area, I don`t know it real good. I do work with a guy that recently bought a flip just Northeast of that intersection and they love their neighborhood. My wife owned a house just Northwest of there and it was sketchy, I would not want to live there. Have you joined or looked into the West MI. REI Club? A great group of people with a ton of knowledge to help each other. I would highly recommend connecting. Sorry I could give anymore specifics on that area. I am just getting started with my investing, but let me know if I can help with anything you need!

Hello BP!
I am a new investor from Byron Center, MI. 14 Miles South of Grand Rapids. I am very excited to begin this journey! My goal is to buy and hold SFH in the Grand Rapids area. I am currently researching to possibly narrow my area down to the Wyoming and small suburbs surrounding it. I would also like to explore Fix and Flips to generate capital to help attain more holds. I look forward to meeting new people on BP that are on a similar Journey!
