Why are you stuck between Houston and Austin? Give more details to help you make a decision.
Austin seems to have more art, music, creative architechure, and all around more receptive of creativity which I’m into. Austin also seems to have an abundance of opportunities because their more of city on the rise, plus the market is seeming to shift drastically so their may be a higher chance of acquiring a multifamily to househack using creative finance rather than a bank. Which is my preferred method.
Houston seems to be more family orientated and the population of people are significantly higher so there’s more chances to market/network. Haven’t dug into off market more than on market in HTX but prices for multifamilies don’t seem to be wavering as much. I was thinking maybe rent a loft in HTX and invest into the Austin area.
My wife has her mind set on HTX but I know if I can acquire a multifamily to affectively househack in Austin she’d be willing to go
