Hey, i haven't been on this website long but I've seen that investing in the midwest, such as parts of Michigan and Ohio is the best but I have no interest living there. I have no family there and it just doesn't appeal to me being close to a big city currently (NYC). I would like to build a big portfolio of properties to make a decent passive income from it, but would living like 8 hours away from my properties be reasonable? Have people done this before?

I am a beginner so I apologize in advance if this question is quite blunt and basic but here we are. So I just saw a post asking if BP was hoping for a recession, and I saw mixed answers. I do not own any properties and I was thinking, what if I buy a property when it is very cheap and has little to no equity, fix it up if it needs repairs, rent it out for some time and then sell it when its equity is high to earn the most profit. Do people do this? Is this a good idea?

@Mike Dymski wouldn't a recession be good for investors trying to make their way into the market? Low prices and over the years the equity climbs

I'm located in the New York City area. I was considering moving down to Florida due to the lower up front investment. Do you have any recommendation of online sites that I can view duplexes and other multi family homes?

Where can I find both sides of a MFH for sale? I've looked on sites like Zillow and Realtor.com but it's always 1 unit? Sorry if this is a newbie question I am looking to get into Real Estate investing. Also, would 4 or more units be considered commercial property? Thanks
