Hello all,

I am interested in buying land and building a duplex. I’m not sure on how to do It. I found a lot I think Is good but needs major clearing. It’s behind a neighborhood alot people want to live in. I have a builder that could build a duplex for a good cost per square foot.

What are the next steps? I don’t know if I can even build a duplex on that piece of land? I’m in the Houston, TX area!

I do believe It would rent but I don’t know if this would be the best first step for me? How do I make this decision?

I want to buy a home but I’ve been doing a lot of research and a lot of investors suggest that duplexes would be a great way to start off. I have been looking but am having a hard time finding a duplex in the area I would like to live and in a decent condition. I am thinking of finding land and having a duplex built but I don’t know how or how much money I’ll need to actually make that happen? Is It better than buying an existing duplex?

I recently established my L.L.C. To begin my journey of real estate investing and rental properties! However, I do not know what BANK to use! I am a Veteran and I was thinking of using Navy Federal or USAA for my business? Does anyone know if they are good banks? Or have banks that you would recommend?
