Post: Water/Sewer Cost Justification

My wife and I recently purchased a piece of land which was eligible to be split into 3 duplex zoned lots. We intend to live in the first half of the duplex and rent the other side in order to get our feet investing. The other 2 duplexes will be constructed and rented out in due time. The only catch is I am working on having engineered drawings to have a sewer main connected to the one sewer lateral and the costs associated seem more daunting than before. Does anyone have any experience with a situation like this and is it worth the cost/headache to move forward? We are new to real estate investing and diving right in.
