EQUIFAX SUFFERS MASSIVE SECURITY BREACH
Equifax, one of three nationwide credit-reporting companies that track and rates the financial history of U.S. consumers, says a giant cybersecurity breach compromised the personal information of as many as 143 million Americans. Cyber criminals have accessed sensitive information -- including names, social security numbers, birth dates, addresses, and the numbers of some driver's licenses. Additionally, Equifax said that credit card numbers for about 209,000 U.S. customers were exposed, as was "personal identifying information" on roughly 182,000 U.S. customers involved in credit report disputes.

I would have been rich!  It ended as expected but I was surprised McGregor did as well as he did.

Nevermind.  As I stated, I know nothing about betting.  If McGregor wins, it's $5,811 return on $21,367, which ain't good.

I reached out to my Dad and brothers with this same question.  It can't be this easy, right?  None of them are really bettors or gamblers either, but I'll update if I gain more insight.

The Mayweather-McGregor fight is this weekend.  It is a boxing match between one of the greatest undefeated boxers of all time (Floyd Mayweather, 49-0) and a hard-punching UFC star (Conor McGregor, much younger and stronger...but not a pro boxer).  Experts are pretty unanimous that Mayweather wins easy.  Which got me looking at betting lines.

I am not a gambler or sports bettor.  But looking at this, it seems like easy money.  Please correct me if I'm wrong, or join me in flipping a quick 20% this weekend.

It looks like bovada is a reputable online betting place?  Any input for or against?

https://sports.bovada.lv/boxing/floyd-mayweather-c...

Say a guy, through his rentals and property ownership, has been able to accumulate about $20k in expendable money (don't need it to live off, it's building toward the next down payment).

Place $20k bet on Mayweather winning the fight, win $4,444 if this scenario comes true.

Hedge by placing $1,367 on McGregor winning, win $4,442.75 if this scenario comes true.

So, for a total investment of $21,367, by Monday, I'll get a "guaranteed" (both must fight for action) $4,444, or about 20.8% return on investment with no risk and weekend worth of investment timeline.

What am I missing?  This seems too good to be true.

I've been cooped up all week so this weekend I'm getting out to ski.  Maybe lunch or some evening next week?

Post: Cellular shades in rental?

I have a basement lock-off.  My wife and I live upstairs.  The blinds are broken and need to be replaced, upstairs and downstairs.  For our own, I greatly prefer cellular shades.  They look nice, easy to operate, easy to install, blackout in the bedrooms, extra sound and temperature insulation (efficiency upgrade?)...they're more expensive.

Should I do cellular shades for the basement rental too?  The threads I've found on BP all recommend cheapo blinds because they'll never be cleaned and get broken anyway.  Anyone with experience using nicer shades in rentals?

FYI - In the Colorado mountains, the increased efficiency in summer and winter is noticeable.  This is a small and simple basement, C+ (?), renting for $975...because our market is crazy.

My tenants pay utilities on top of rent.  Right now, all utilities are in my name and I bill the tenants monthly (this will improve going forward).  It looks like Cozy only allows a fixed monthly rent?  Is there any way to have the base rent, plus utilities?

I guess I can just go in every month and change the rental amount based on the net total.  I would have to go in and enter the utility amount any way.

@Christina Labowicz  Not that I know of.  It's kind of a small area to draw from, but I've thought about starting something up.  I'm certainly no expert, but have had good success house hacking here.

I live in Eagle. Let me know if you want to grab lunch or a beer some time and talk REI.

I'm about to close on an up / down duplex in Eagle.  The basement needs work: remove wood burning stove, paint, carpet, bathroom remodel including adding a vent fan.  The bathroom is priority #1.  Any local contractor recommendations in Eagle, near Vail?
