Quote from @Andy Rousch:

Welcome to BP @Colleen Sutherland ! I have some out of state Airbnb's and having people you know, like, and trust there is huge so that is great that you are originally from Ohio so hopefully you can find some good connections there. Reliable Cleaners will make or break your success with short-term rentals, so that is a must. Secondly a reliable handyperson will be very important. If you can find those two with a desirable property and location you should be ok. It is a huge plus if you can be near business areas or hospitals so you can always pivot to mid-term rentals if the short-term rental becomes too much hands on work or you can even use short-term rents in between mid-term stays

 Thanks for the guidance Andy. I am taking all the notes I possibly can.

@Colleen Sutherland

if you're serious my recommendation would be to spend time in person building your network.  so can you go there 1-2 times a month for the next 1-2 years?  that will get you somewhere.

Thank you for the guidance. Yes, I am planning on building a net work before even starting. I am just putting out feelers.

Hello Everyone!

My name is Colleen, I am from Ohio and have been living in the Northern Virginia area for 8 years. I have been blessed to purchase a home here which I have been house hacking for a year now. Now I am now setting my eyes on investing in Ohio since it is doing great in the investor world and I am very familiar with the state, particularly the Cleveland area.

I have been listening to the Bigger Podcasts for at least six months now, familiarizing myself with the lingo and learning about others stories. What draws me into real estate is the vibrancy of it. It is never static. I love the idea of renovating and having renters who are happy. STR is appealing to me because of the experience you can create for the guest and having a place for your family to stay when needed. Like Rob says, he buys places that he wants to live and can vacation in at some point. The other aspect I love about Real Estate is the generational wealth you can create. I want to create this for my family.
