Post: $52K Mentor?!? Newbie from Dallas, Texas!

If I had the $52K, I'd be tempted to pay. But, as I said in my post above, the money wasn't doable for me at this point in my life!

I know people who have purchased it and ended up making a great living in real estate investing. But they had $250K to start with, so the $52K wasn't that big of a deal for them. FOR ME IT IS!!

Thanks for the welcome and advice!

Former Kitchen Designer, here!

When choosing colors for kitchens, think "Light, Medium, Dark".

Your cabinets, being white, are the "light". Flooring and countertops will be "medium and dark".

Today's kitchen designs are going lighter toned medium colors on the countertops, and lighter toned 'dark' colors for flooring.

Also, if the kitchen has southern light, go for a warmer toned "white".

How do they justify that?

Welcome to the site.

So much around here to read

I think their biggest selling point was having a mentor available to you 24/7, the mentor flies to your location and spends three days with you, the REI Blackbook software was included, plus online video trainings and live seminars.

All-in-all, we still felt it was overpriced. I know people who have purchased it and ended up making a great living in real estate investing. But they had $250K to start with, so the $52K wasn't that big of a deal for them. FOR ME IT IS!!

I have local mentors that I can call to help me structure deals, check my numbers, come up with creative financing, etc...

I look forward to reading BP and asking questions!

Thanks for the welcome, @Matthew Lynch !

Congratulations on not biting on the mentorship offer.   If one wants to pay for real estate education, $52K will go a long ways towards an industry certification or a college/university business degree specializing in real estate.

Aside from tornados (which are very rare here on the east coast), ten acres by the Tx - Ok border sounds like a delightful -and, I'm guessing warm - place to be.

There is lots to read and learn here and lots of folks with varied experiences in real estate.  Make yourself at home and don't be shy to ask questions as you need.

Thank you, Roy!

Yes, there were a number of people who paid the $52K for the training, software, and mentorship.

I'll be reading as much as I can as soon as I can, then I'll be sure to pepper y'all with questions.  :-)

Thank you for the warm welcome! (MINUS tornadoes!)

C.

Since I know very little about Real Estate investing, this past weekend I went to a 3-Day seminar (through Rich Dad) where they were selling mentorship and training for $52K. (I didn't bite.)

They covered a great overview of various options.... and I see a lot of that right here on BiggerPockets!

My name is Colleen Hammond, and my only experience in Real Estate in the 11 homes I’ve bought/sold and lived in.

Although I'm originally from Michigan, I moved to Atlanta to work at The Weather Channel, then moved to the Dallas area about 20 years ago with a job transfer. I live in North Texas (up by the Oklahoma border) on a lovely ten acre spread.

Currently, I'm an Executive Image Consultant, Author, Speaker, and Mom. I train women with their clothing choices, manners, and poise to portray the proper image and empower success.

I want to use my income from that consultation business to become financially free using Real Estate.

Oh, and I found BP through a Google search.

So happy to be here, and I look forward to learning more!
