@Steven Luttman Wow, thats about as ugly as it gets in this business and I think you navigated getting them out well especially during the current memoritorium. When kids are involved it gets even stickier, I contact SS immediately when I suspect something or get reports from other tenants, and then SS can investigate and determine what, if anything, should happen. While its definitely not your obligation, I think its always the right thing to at least offer to help them find a new place.
Across the board, the memoritorium / 2020 has caused some serious eye openers for me as a landlord. At a property I manage in Schenectady, a tenant broke into a vacant apartment and rented it out! Luckily we found out because our maintenance guy was on site when the new 'tenants' were moving in. This occurred today and we just reported it to the police. I'm curious what others would do in this situation, and what should be done with the new tenants that moved in?
