I am interested in buying a multi family property in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, IL, however, I have heard negative comments about buying investment properties in Illinois due to high property taxes. Does anyone who has rental properties in Illinois have any insight to whether the is true or not? Thank you!

I have been looking around at different single family properties available, however, I seem to be finding many that have 3 or more bedrooms and only one bathroom. I am still new to all of this, but I feel like that is a major draw back. Should these be properties I stay away from if I am looking to flip them? Or is there an alternative such as renovating/adding another bathroom to the property if the space allows for it? Any help would be appreciated!

Hi everyone!

I am newer to the Algonquin, Illinois area and wanting to get into REI. I am in the learning stage of this, and I am seeking to connect with different individuals in the area to help direct me in the right path. The extent of my learning so far has come from articles on BP's website and "The Book on Rental Property Investing", but I am looking for more specific knowledge on the Algonquin, IL market as that is where I would like to look into starting. If anyone is willing to offer any help I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thanks,

Colin G
