Post: Massachusetts Rental Investing

Hi there,

Has anyone had true success in the rental market in MA? It seems as though there are two ends of the spectrum, the very expensive million dollar multi families near Boston, or the 100k multi families in the Worcester area and not many in between.

Has anyone started from nothing and become successful? I am having a hard time getting over the realization that these properties are vastly different in terms of price, and the lower cost homes/areas are just too much of a hassle to invest in.

Any thoughts?

Hi,

My name is Colby and I am seeking a mentor in the area! I am looking to do a lot with my life and am looking for someone who has experience and is willing to show me the ropes!

Someone who has started out knowing very little, but has made an absolute change in their life due to investing in real estate in the MA market is someone I am looking for. Someone who travels and does everything they have always wanted!

Looking forward to some responses!

Thanks!

Colby

Hi everyone,

As I have posted before, I am just starting out and learning day by day. I am in a tough Massachusetts market with above average costs for real estate and am looking to do anything to break into the market and start growing.

That brings me to my question, is it worth getting a real estate license to become a real estate investor?

Let's hear some thoughts and I truly appreciate the help!

Thanks everyone for the advice and help! It seems as though from everyone's response, the best way to go will be to start with a "house hack" and save up for the next buy down the road. My loans run me around 550 a month, so that is my biggest enemy. My family says to save everything I make and just pay down the loans, but it would kill me not to invest in myself with the amount I have saved up.

Now, does anyone recommend getting a real estate license? Or is it as simple as find a open triple decker or multi family duplex? As I see it when I search, I only ever find one floor of a multi level or one side of a duplex.

Any thoughts on the process of making the first step?

Thanks everyone!

Hi, My name is Colby and I am seeking any advice on how to get started in the real estate world and investing. I am determined to create a non work residual income with real estate investing, rental properties, house flipping, and other areas. I graduated college last year and have a large sum of debt totaling 85k. I live at home rent free and have a great job taking in 50k in salary plus commissions and a monthly driving expense check. I have tried speaking to my parents and pears and all I hear is that it's all too risky and just to simply save for a house and live within my means, however that's not what I want. I am seeking absolutely and advice on how to get started in the Massachusetts market which is hard enough as it is. I have a large sum saved after a year and am willing to do whatever it takes to get in the game!!! Thank you! Colby
