The problem with Houston is that any multi family (in the loop) that are close to affordable are in areas that most wouldn't want to live in. SFH and getting roommates is an option but if your girlfriend moves in with you sometimes they aren't as interested in having a stranger living with y'all.

Hopefully someone will know something that I don't and comment. Good luck!

@Mitchell Benson I'm interested if youre serious!

@Kelly Conley Also interested! Thanks!

I have heard east of I35 is the next place being bought up. Older homes that people are renovating, much cheaper than west

What part of SL?

@Bob Randolph i was also San Marcos-curious for awhile. After doing some initial research, i learned that there are some restrictions on what can be rented to students. If anyone can clarify more, please do. My memory is a little hazy, but I remember that it was enough to make me look elsewhere.

99% of properties are classified SFR anywhere close to the school, meaning a maximum of two different last names can live in the house, limiting you pretty much to families.

@Ryan Dossey Yes I am analyzing these deals off online listings. I know that off market is typically the only way to go buy I would think at least one deal would make sense that I found online?
