Take a look at FileMaker. It’s a database software that can have a really nice front end. They have certified devs all over the country that could make something custom for you.

Congrats on the upcoming addition to the family! If you're looking for others that have come from the medical field I would recommend connecting with any of these folks. Their stories are very similar!

We do some cold calling of property owners but mainly our leads come from brokers. We've built some relationships there and leverage them when we can.

"Tech" is a broad topic these days. What do you envision this tech job doing daily? Are you thinking IT, network analyst, or something like data analysis?

How much time do you have…..

On the go:

Using the Files app, I select my “receipt” location in my storage solution of chose (Box, Dropbox, OneDrive, iCloud, etc). Once in that folder I chose the ‘Scan Documents’ option then scan my receipt. Boom, it’s stored. I usually change the name to include the date, location, and anyone with me.

In my office:
Starting with my Brother scanner, it scans to a particular folder. Once in that folder I use an application call Hazel https://www.noodlesoft.com/ to watch for any new documents. When it sees one, it triggers an AppleScript to open PDF Expert to OCR the document.

I’ve deployed such devices personally but not at scale. One thing to remember is these devices (most of them) will require strong internet connections. If you’re providing them you’ll also need to maintain the connection. Also think about when someone moves out. How and who is resetting the devices so they previous tenet doesn’t still have control over them. This may have been solved with commercial grade equipment.

Personally I would prefer to deploy my own smart devices as I would prefer to choose the brand and software used to control the devices. But that’s just me.

Wordpress is great and has lots of flexibility. However if you’re like me, you want something that looks good without needing a ton of experience. That’s why we chose Squarespace. Down the road, we’ll hire someone to redo and manage our site, but for now I think it looks great and functions well.
