Welcome @Tyrone S.

Post: how local should a local phone number be?

Local phone numbers do work better. As for switching the number on each mail piece, that depends on how well you want to track your response. The only way to truly track the response of a mail piece is to have a dedicated phone number for each piece. Calls will trickle in for months, so if you are reusing the same number throughout the campaign then you are not able to adequately track the performance of each specific mail piece.

@Mike Hicks  The upset caller volume is much less than a Yellow Letter, it actually brings in the quality of calls that a postcard does except has a higher response rate. That is our "Zip Letter" btw.

These are the pieces that have been performing the best lately, and what @Michael Quarles is using. I would integrate each one of these into your mailing campaign, hit them with a different mail piece each month. Remember, consistency is paramount with any direct mail campaign.

@Todd C.  That would be a 3month campaign hitting 1000 leads 3 times. I would recommend hitting the same leads at least 4-6 times, I was just using those mail pieces as an example of options that you have to reach more leads while still staying within your budget. Assuming you are getting your leads at .08 from Listsource, you are still within your budget.

@Todd C.

How large is your list?  The reason I ask, I wouldn't stick solely to Yellow Letters. Try to switch up your mail piece, this will not only give your mail campaign diversity but also allow you to reach more leads. For example: you could mail 1000 Yellow Letters, 1000 small text postcards, and 1000 large text postcards for about $1700. Less than your $600 per month budget.

And you should definitely get a service that provides you with different phone numbers. Use different numbers for each type of marketing you use as well as each mailing that you send out to be able to track which mailing you are receiving calls from. You already mentioned Vumber, Ring Central works great as well.

Yes, you want to hit a list at least 4-6 times. Mailing only once would be a waste of a list and a mailing. Mail to them no sooner than every 3 weeks and no longer than every 6 weeks. Most people will not respond on the first mailing, especially on postcards.

@Account Closed

Justin hit the nail on the head. We do not recommend removing people from your list. Circumstances change and they could be a deal a few months down the road.

Find the best use of your time. Since you still have you J.O.B. your time will already be limited. And believe me, writing letters yourself takes A TON of time.

@Michael Quarles

 Noticed the tags above didn't work.
