Post: Same eviction case for missing rent in different month?

Last May, I filed a case to evict a tenant in my apartment at Harrison, New Jersey (Hudson county).  I didn't receive any respond from the court so I thought my letter was lost.  At the same time, my tenant started to pay rent so there was OK.  However, my tenant just told me he would pay rent this Dec.  While I was planning to file another eviction, I got the court date finally for the first eviction case.  Can I simply update my complain to evict tenant for not paying rent in Dec instead of May? Or I need to file a new case (and wait half a year!)

Thank you. I just talked to two attorneys but they are charging $1k flat fee for the whole case. Since I am expecting the tenant will pay as soon as they receive the notice, I am looking for an attorney who will just charge me for submitting paperwork to the court and probably some initial consultation/evaluation.  It is a non-payment eviction so it is relatively straight forward to start with.  Any referral is appreciated.

Hello biggerpockets,

My property in Hudson county New Jersey is owned by a LLC. I need to evict a tenant for non-payment now. Do I need to hire an attorney to kick off the eviction process? Or can I file the case myself now and then hire attorney only if I actually need to appear in court? Based on my past experience, most tenants will pay rent when they see the notice. Thank you

Hi BP community! I just acquired my first mixed used building. Sorry as it might be a stupid question.. I want to rent the store to franchise like Starbucks, Duncan Donets, etc but don't know how to start. Do I just list the store to MLS and wait for them to contact me? Or should I contact those franchises directly? Is there any service out there to contact franchise that might be interested in my location?

Thanks!
