Yes. I had my contractor with me. That was pretty much the major issue with the house. The supports at the back of the house need reinforcements, which he said he can do. Other than that, the house smelled badly but was in overall good condition.

Boy did I learn a few lessons! Lesson #1: Charge your phone. Lesson #1a: Keep an umbrella in the ride. I get to the property, on time and very excited but the realtor isn’t there yet and I can’t get in. It’s raining cats & dogs. So I call the realtor and just as he answers, my phone died. Of course that means that I can’t call the contractor who’s waiting in the rain... Lesson#2: Wear sensible shoes. On the outside, this property looked like a life-sized doll house, but on the inside it was more like a 1950s horror movie. The walls were smeared with...something. It smelled musty like sweaty socks times 5. Some of the floors were slanted and the windows were crooked, so much that I got vertigo walking from room to room. It had good bones though. Anyway, in the alleyway was mud and worms and leaves in the path leading to the back yard. Um, yeah... I wasn’t dressed for that, so guess who didn’t see the back of the house! Lesson #3: Cover your hair. This one should have been a no-brainer, but again I was so excited to see my “maybe first deal” that I neglected to do it which left me vulnerable to the spiders and other creepy crawly things that lurk in abandoned homes. There I was in this dark, stinky, dirty basement excited about my new adventure and also internally paranoid that arachnids & their kin would be landing on my head at any minute. I kept my composure do as not to scare the contractor but I was glad to get out of there. I’m sitting here laughing to myself as I reflect on today. I’m proud of myself though. I got through my first scout!

Hi Janae! I’d love to. Sundays are always good for me if we do it mid afternoon. During the week is prime time for business and scouting. I know a few other people too.

I’m new here so don’t shoot me if my comment is off base... Is there any reason why you can’t go to Hone Depot, get a bottle of Ortho Home Defense and spray the house? That’s $7.98 and about a half hour of your time, vs your high estimates. Home Defense kills just about every household bug.
