So turns out the info I got from the realtor want 100% accurate. After reading some of your posts I decided to triple check my numbers, but also double check the information I was given. They were off on the monthly taxes. So I’d be in the red with what I saw on the assessor’s site. I still might do it and when I can I’ll post the numbers so I can get some help. Thanks!

Hi everyone. I’m looking to do my first deal and after crunch the numbers, I’d be looking at about $1100 in positive cash flow a month. I’d be doing a 203k loan to get some work done. After the year I’d be able to rent out the other apartment and my monthly positive would increase to $3100. I’m just worried that the first year isn’t enough to help save up in case anything goes wrong. Any help is appreciated

Every time my family talks to me about my ideas of investing in real estate they say I'm too young, I need more time to make some money, or I'm too inexperienced to buy a multi family house and landlord. I have read multiple books and talked to a few people that own properties. But if I bring up a 203k loan or something of that nature they just say that i'll regret it because I'm having someone else use my money (or the bank's) to fix up a house. They have strict ideas that contractors do the minimum just to get by inspections. My father and I are union electricians and he wants to help me but just nods when my mother gives me a hard time about my ideas. It sucks to have very little support at home because this is something I've wanted to do for 2+ years now and I feel like I can now because I have steady employment to help secure a loan. Can anyone help me/give me ideas to get my parents on board?

Hello all!

I just graduated from college and right now I am focusing on paying off my student loans but I want to learn as much as I can about real estate investing so that when I pay off my loans (within the next 3 years) I can take the extra cashflow I will have and use it to focus on investing. So is there anyone that lives in my area (Westchester County) that would be willing to mentor me?

Thank you all! I've written down all your suggestions and will find which ones work best for me in my area.

What about hardware? Kitchen cabinets, countertops, furniture and others. Or does color not matter for those?

Hello!

My name is Christopher Powers and I'm looking to get into REI and am looking to start with a multifamily property and I would live in one of the units. I'm wondering what kind of color schemes you guys use for the interiors of your rental properties. I have an idea of kitchen schemes and such and I try to use hgtv and hgtv.com to get some ideas but I'm wondering what colors or hardware you guys, particularly those in the NE, use in their houses or units. I'm based in Albany NY and am not sure what to look at or where to turn so any help is greatly appreciated!

Chris

Okay,

But what if my parents would not approve of my choices so they wouldn't cosign the property with me?
