As someone new to real estate investing, there are some people who advised that an easy way to get started is buying a property from a legit turnkey company.

1. For all you experienced investors, have you purchased from a turnkey provider? If so, what was your experience?

2. How did you obtain peace of mind that the turnkey provider was legit and was actually providing a quality, cash flowing property and not stiffing you?

Thanks everyone!

Here is a follow-up to my "Beginner Series" questions. As a new investor looking to get that first deal, should I be looking on the MLS, Craiglists, driving neighborhoods or locating wholesalers to find a good deal for buy and hold? As someone with not much experience, I want to get started and make that first deal.

1. How did you all find your first deal?

2. If you could have done anything different on that first deal, what would it be and why?

@Rebecca Knox

Thank you for the advice and excellent feedback. I sent a request to join your meetup so hopefully you will get it soon.

@Jack Medford

Thank you for the feedback and I have reached out to a couple REI organizers to be added.

@Dean Wells

I appreciate someone who can relate to firsthand to my post. I've listen to many podcasts where new investors are interviewed and they speak about how the started with no money and yet have been able to amass 20-30 units in the first year or two. I always wonder how the heck did they do that without having much money to start.

@Jay Hinrichs

Thank you for the good advice. I hear feedback from both sides; work for someone in the industry for free and then I hear, don't ever work for free.

There are many people looking to get started in real estate. The challenge is that many of those who have a ton of ambition, unfortunately do not have the resources to get started. These people are willing and ready to work hard but just don't have the money for that first deal. The question is, how can those who are currently in the real estate investing community assist/advise those who are on the sideline eager to get started, what to do to get over the hurdle?
