Hi Richard, Finding a contractor is especially difficult in Lawton. You are better off just sub contracting everything because nothing will get done without you having someone you trust on the ground to ensure things are getting done. We hired a contractor by the name of Dakota, Legacy Home Remodeling, and its been very stressful and aggravating. He doesn't show up and leaves his guys that have no construction experience to do the work. They did one week worth of work in 3 weeks! So steer clear. The lesson is when dealing with Lawton, sub the work out and pay them once each project is completed, not on a weekly basis.  Bringing in your own crew is smart. They don't know anyone or anything there so they aren't distracted. The only thing they have to do is work. The faster they get the job done the sooner they get to go home. I like that idea. Let me know what your thoughts are but that was my experience.

I am in the process of purchasing my first investment in Lawton, OK and looking for recommendations for a general contractor. Can anyone recommend a general contract in the area?

Thank you everyone for the welcome. I am excited about the new journey!

I will definitely keep I touch about my progress and hopefully I find a project that makes sense for me.

Hello everyone,

My name is Christina and I live in the Ventura County of California. That's right outside of the Los Angeles area for those who are unfamiliar. I am originally from San Antonio, TX but moved out here to California almost 3 years ago. I have been a real estate agent for about a year now, so still have so much to learn especially about investing. Since I'm an agent I always hear about off market properties but as an investor I have no idea what to do with them so I'm looking to learn strategies. My goals are to learn as much as I can about the investing aspect of the industry, acquire rental properties, build my portfolio and pay it forward by teaching others.

I'm hoping this is a good step toward my goals.........
