Hey everyone!

I'm interested in meeting other investors in/near Seattle WA who have experience with the BRRRR strategy!

I'm relatively new to the community, and new to real estate investing. But I'm SO EAGER! I've read a couple of books and today I worked on putting down on paper my short/mid/long term goals. I know what I want my next deal to be, but before I find the one, there's lots to do. I need to build my team and I want to grow my network, so that when I'm actually in it, I can bounce ideas and have more experience people help me through it!

I live in Enumclaw, Washington about an hour south of Seattle, but I work in Downtown Seattle 2 days per week and I'm in Seattle a lot. I'd love to meet other locals in this space. If that's you, let me know! I'd love to meet you! Buy you lunch or coffee! :)

Best,

Christina.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!

A quick update from me: I finished reading a couple of books and I'm now a lot more clear on what our long term plan is and the short term steps I need to take!

Our focus for the next few months to a year is to find a property locally, in the town we live in, which we want to turn into a short term rental for outdoor enthusiasts (we live close to a popular ski destination and there's a lot of mountain biking/hiking/camping activity during the summer time) and it so happens that this area is underserved for lodging options! We're probably going to focus on finding a good deal on a Single Family Home or a Duplex, as we want to have the flexibility to turn it back into a long term rental if needed.

I want to learn more about estimating rehab costs, because I think we'll be taking a BRRRR approach on this one, since at the moment we're house rich but cash poor! :D

I've already seen some properties that could be interesting (on foreclosure.com) but before that my immediate next steps are networking! - So, I'm going to tap into this community to start building my team!

I'm so excited!!

Post: To wholesale or not to wholesale, that is the question!

Hi! A little bit of background:

My partner and I each owned a home (single family) which we then turned into rentals when we bought another place together (where we also rent out 2 rooms!). At first this just seemed the smart thing to do from a financial standpoint but we hadn't considered it the start of our real estate investing business - until now :)

I have been binging bigger pockets podcasts and have started to read books - I freaking love @beardybrandon !! And here's where we areat when thinking about our goals:

Ultimately, we want to build a portfolio of rental properties. We already have 2 single family homes, and the next tier to explore would be small multi-family homes, i.e slowly ramp up to more units per property as we learn the ropes of managing multiple tenants. For now, I think keeping it local would be better, but I'm open to investing long distance down the road once we're more comfortable with our systems/ process/ team.

As for how to scale up, I'm still debating on what we should pursue next. As we all know, it all comes down to finding the right deals, and having the right strategy to finance it.

Wholesaling could be an opportunity to learn the skill of finding discounted or off-market properties, so maybe we should start there (if anything to challenge ourselves out of our comfort zone!), and then we could use those profits to invest in our next buy and hold.

On the other hand, we have equity that we can tap into, and a family member with some capital looking to invest with whom we could partner, so maybe jumping into a BRRRR strategy would make sense. In that case I'd be more comfortable with a property that only needs light rehabbing since I have zero experience in this department.

Either way it will be a learning curve and a challenge for this social introvert to network!

Any advice/feedback/leads/resources? Any locals in Western Washington willing to connect?

Hey everyone! So happy to join this community I discovered the bigger pockets podcast about a month ago and I can't get enough, I'm learning so much and I'm eager to keep it going! My partner and I both owned our homes before we decided to move in together and both these properties are now our rentals. That was out start. It's funny though, it made sense as a smart financial decision, but I hadn't considered it "my business" until now! What a mindset shift! I can't wait to invest more, create passive income, grow my equity and get to know all you fine people!
