Thanks for the replies! My realtor suggested separating the appliances from the building I'm still going to check with my CPA but it helps to see how other people handle this.

I'm buying a duplex with $6000 worth of appliances, should I depreciate them separate from the building? What are the advantages or disadvantages? How many years can you depreciate appliances? And what happens when those years are up?
