@M Marie M. - Thank you for the well wishes!  We certainly have noticed that the word "wedding" makes everything more expensive.  I didn't realize wedding envelopes were a thing until last week... Anyways, to answer your question, we will be returning to Florida as I am currently licensed there and she is currently registered for her license there pending the licensing exam.  She has a bit more training post-graduation to do what she wants to do so we have one more stop for a year before we are liberated of academia and can settle in Florida near family and friends.  

@Stephen Short - Thanks for the advice.  I definitely like the idea of getting started now, but I don't think it's possible while in Columbus.  To fill you in a bit more, my fiancee graduates in May 2016 and we are getting married a week later, so extra capital is "invested" in our wedding vendors at the moment.  That said, we are likely moving from Ohio by the end of May with destination uncertain as she will not find out about her internship match until February.  We have discussed the possibility of buying and rehabbing at that point to get our feet wet much sooner!

Hello BP!

I've had an interest in real estate for awhile now, but I finally started taking that interest a bit more seriously.  Enter BiggerPockets!  While I'm new to the forums, I have listened to all the BP podcasts and I like the culture BP and has to offer. As of now I'm still some time from pursing anything serious on my own in real estate, but I figured now was a great time get active in the forums, engage, build networks of intelligent colleagues and tease out that "analysis paralysis" phase so I can hit the ground running when the time is right.

My name is Chris and I recently graduated from law school at OSU in May 2014.  I'd say my courses in commercial real estate while in law school definitely got me thinking more seriously real estate.  I currently reside in Columbus, Ohio with my fiancee while she finishes up her DVM.  We are looking to relocate to Florida in the coming years and begin our real estate investing once we have a chance to set some roots—perhaps a house hack!

I'm pretty open to exploring all real estate has to offer (flipping etc.), but I am definitely interested in long-term buy and hold and amassing a real estate "empire" on whatever scale I am fortunate to find success! I look forward to talking and connecting with the everyone out there in theBP community and learning any and everything there is to know about the industry.
