Hey Chris! Welcome to BiggerPockets.

I'm sorry to hear about your house in Oklahoma. I'd love to offer advice and hear more about your real estate goals.

Have a great day!

Hey Allie! Thank you!! Any advice is appreciated. I'm currently studying and trying to understand real estate and how the process works, local Laws, markets ect. I'm also currently trying to improve my credit, pay of debts that can hinder my growth in real estate. My goals would to be to have a few brrrr that I would try to long term rent. Also maybe invest in a small business that operates itself to where I can keep my W2 job until I can set myself up better financially. And eventually maybe try to focus on one house flip annually! I'm really interested in single and multi family homes. Thank you so much for reaching out! Hope your day is awesome!

@Chris Hays keep at it and your experiences will pay off. I like the Corpus market and it’s much more affordable than the bigger metros in Texas. Plus, it has a strong refinery port and manufacturing industry which will keep solid jobs in the area.

Nice to meet you Ryan! And thanks for the reply! I think it will be a good market with the navy base, refineries, university and spring breakers! Lol I'm planning to stay round my area and learn as I go. There's a lot of apartments here and the town stays busy! Hope your day was great!

Quote from @Matt Loftin:

Hey Chris! My name is Matt, and my wife and I are about to start real estate investing here in Corpus as well. We've had rental properties in the past in various states, so we have a decent amount of landlord experience, but haven't bought anything solely as an investment yet. They've all been previous residencies that we could rent out for extra income. Trying to get our first purchase in the works in the coming weeks, and hope to have a couple more before the end of the year. Good luck and stay in touch! I don't have much experience, but will be happy to share what I can.

Nice to meet you matt! That is awesome! Good luck with your new investment! Any advice is appreciated! I have no landlord experience myself. but my father was in the construction business his whole life and I've learned a lot from him. My wife likes to side hustle working as a handygurl for some local apartment complexes. I work a lot of hours right now, but if you ever need a hand on the weekends I'd be happy to help if I can!

just wanted to say hello and introduce myself! my name is Chris and i moved to Corpus Christi Texas about 13 years ago from Ponca City Oklahoma. im 41 years old and spent my whole life working a w2 job, 10 years as a towing operator and 13 years now as a fed ex delivery driver. Im dedicated and always give 100 percent to whatever i do. i had a boss tell me " its hell trying to get rich" jokingly.... and after 13 years ive maybe called in sick 4 times, hustling to make it....and im noticing im only getting deeper in this hole... i own one property in ponca city oklahoma wich i left for my mother who still lives there, to use as a rental house. well she had bad renters and they lived there 5 months without paying rent, and after evicted they destroyed my house. being 12 hours away and not able to help or even send money, the house sits vacant. i also inherited a house here in corpus from my father in law wich i currently reside. my goals this year is to catch up my bills and start saving. work on my bad credit and start real estate investing and maybe a small buisness! i plan to get my oklahoma house rentable again and invest in a new house close to me so i can get the experience. im excited to start this new journey and wish id have done this earlier. i have alot to learn, and i thank bp and everyone for any encouragement and wise advise! hope everyone has an awesome week! chris
