Thanks you. I currently have state farm. I will reach out to them. My property management told me not to over insure since the HOA may already cover some things. I have to take the HOA agreement to someone who understands it and can tell me what I neef and don't need honestly.

I am in Tennessee, I would appreciate recommendations for good landlord insurance provider and any information on what I should be looking for in coverage.

@Bill Brandt Thank you so much for that helpful information. This is the first time I'm hearing about landlord insurance. I knew I needed insurance but did not know what type.

Hello Everyone,

I am just starting out in property investment and I found this website just in time as I am about to close on my first rental property. I'm so glad for the wealth of information here because I have no idea what I'm doing except that I know I want to own rental properties for cash flow.

I'm buying a newly built town house and I will get a home owner's insurance for my property. I am getting a property manager to manage it for me. My questions is, how does my home owner's insurance work in relation to renters insurance for tenants. Do I need to require tenants to get renters insurance.
