I have put the roxul sound proofing up.   I was planning on doing barn board with additional strips at joints between boards for a more detailed looked.  I'm now wondering if that will carry more sound from up stairs or  if it will act as another sound barrier better than drywall?

Hi

I'm presently added a room in the basement. I'm looking for ways to eliminate as much sound as possible from upstairs. Interested in hearing from anyone that has used dynamat for sound proofing. I was originally going to use heavy duty R value in joists. Any suggestions appreciated?
