Post: Recommendations on a good Self Directed IRA.

Hello.
I'm starting a new job and I'm looking for a good self-directed IRA so that I can use the money to invest in real estate in the future. Was wondering if anyone had good recommendations on ones that you have used and had success with. I know a lot of them have limitations and rules on what you are allowed to invest in so just trying to avoid that.
Thanks for your help

@Michael Lowe

My family was the exact same way. I would have knock down drag out fights with them about investing in real estate and all the benefits but all they always said was “there’s too much risk” or “the tenants won’t pay”. But i learned that the only reason they said these things is because they really don’t know. Never take advice from people who don’t have experience doing whatever you’re trying to do. I decided to take advice from the books that i read instead of them and now i have 2 properties (duplex and sfr) and 3 syndication investments. They are very supportive now!

DON’T GIVE UP. DON’T EVER GIVE UP!

I agree with you that just because someone is on the BP Podcast, doesn’t make them trustworthy. Everybody should always remember that Clayton Morris was on the BiggerPockets podcast too! So everybody should always do their own due diligence in analyzing any investment.

Personally i have never invested with GC but i believe he is legit. But i think he is still a big promoter and talker as anybody that big probably is. That is why we’re talking about him.

@Jason L.

I use Wilmoth group. They manage my two properties that i have and have been very satisfied with their communication and professionalism. They have exceeded all of my expectations and will continue to use them in the furure with more properties. Joel Wilmoth is the owner and very experienced in real estate and has a great staff around him. They manage a lot of units all over indy and have units in just about every neighborhood in indy.

Hello

I’m looking for any recommendations or suggestions on value add apartment syndications out there. I know there are tons of people doing this but I’m looking for experienced proven success operators in this space. 7-8% monthly cash flow with 15% annualized over 5 year hold period is what I am looking for. I have some rental properties in Indianapolis but not generating the income that i can get from a syndications.

Thanks

@Jaden Adams

First of all we I think we need to distinguish the difference between college and education. College facilities learning but does necessarily mean you will get educated. You should be learning throughout life, not just when you’re in school. You can get a degree with no usefull information. If you are going to get a job that you need a degree for i would recommend staying in school. It will give you the right resources for that skillset.

However, if you want to be a real estate agent for sure than you don’t need to be in thousands of dollars in debt for a useless degree. You don’t need a degree to be successful. But that doesn’t mean that giving up us ok. You should never give and always follow what you are naturally drawn to.

@Miles Z. Sterrett

My name is Chandler Harker. I’m a new investor in Indianapolis. I have two properties so far but looking to expand my company by getting into commercial real estate/ apartments. I don’t know much about the space so looking to learn. That’s awesome that you are getting to learn about it as a limited partner. That sounds like something I could be interested in. What kind of commercial are you invested in? Where is it?

Thanks Miles

@Ric Ernst

Thanks for the information!

I have a partnership with my parents so i guess we’ll have to wait 6 mo. I’m surprised chase gave you a loan on a rental. I think i called them awhile ago but they said they didn’t do non owner occupied. I’ll try again though.

If you don’t mind me asking, what is your interest rate on the loan so i can get an idea what i should expect?
