Good luck with your investing and let me know if I can help you in any way.

Maybe all the Dallas area investors need to get together for lunch a couple days a month to learn from each other.

I love that idea! And its something that is easy enough to set up; One of us can post about it in the Dallas section here on BP.
You put "pitchfest" in quotes, do you disagree with the characterisation? I thought there was some good info presented, though am new enough to not be able to verify it yet, nor to really make the statement in the first place, and perhaps I was out of line.
I also see you are an agent from Dallas. I've just called in to an agent to get a mail-alert set up for any new tri/four-plexes in my price range.

Mark, I'm in the same boat looking for the same things. It seems Ft. Worth has more multifamilies than Dallas, but I don't know if I want to make the drive every day.
What's your price range? If I see anything that fits your criteria but it outside of mine, I will pass it along.

Hello all,

I saw on the marketplace a wholesaler (I'd imagine) who would bundle several properties together for 120k.

My question is, would an investor be able to use a single conventional mortgage to purchase that package/bundle, or would he need to take out several loans?
My route at the moment remains limited to either subject-to or FHA, as I don't have the assets to afford any more than 3-5% down. However, the owner-occupant requirement of FHA would, I assume, preclude this type of deal.

Do either of you know if there is a meetup section on biggerpockets? Or maybe, what is the best way to find a good REIA that isn't just a pitchfest for a guru?

Or should I ask this in a different section :P

Thanks Michael, that sounds like great advice. I'm currently devouring information, realising that most people who flunk out of REI do so because they didn't educate themselves and do their due diligence. However, I haven't been paying attention to how I could go about building the interpersonal relationships that I have lately heard are so vital to success.

Hello all!

I'm Chance from Dallas, and I've actually been reading and lurking BiggerPockets for a while now, am going through the e-book guide to investing, and am preparing to take my first step.

My plan at the moment is to house-hack a multi-family: hopefully a tri or fourplex, but duplex if the numbers work. I've been saving up for a down-payment, and I've set a goal to make a move by the end of July.

As my deadline approaches, I'm getting more and more apprehensive, honestly.

I tried attending a REIA event this past week, but it was all about signing up for a three day event, so any REIA meetup recommendations are welcome.

I figured it was time to start engaging,
Nice to meet you!
