We are in the Fayetteville area.  They are wanting a 6 month buyers agreement, and feel like it’s a little much for not knowing the person that well

Are they usually negotiable even if it’s an individual policy?  Sorry we are first time home buyers.

I recently moved to North Carolina and we are looking at buying a home. We went to one real estate agent and they told us in order to show a home in the state of North Carolina that a buyers agreement must be signed.  Is this a North Carolina law, broker policy, or just a bait tactic?  Thanks
