Well i met with the landlord and he has agreed to pay.
He wanted to make a deal first but after a moment of silence he said he would pick up the bill as long as it did not exceed $300.
I am quite confident that I can get the work done for $300.

I kind of felt bad after the fact but after looking at the hardware used to hold the wood in place I think that it is a building flaw + aged.

My landlord is a nice guy and does treat all the tenants good so I might pick up $100 of the bill just to keep good relations and I do know it was not his direct doing.

Thanks for all your replies.

Drew

Thanks for the reply.
Well the wood was just old and the nails are rusty and old.
I don't think he knew about it because it was about 80 feet up also.

I called him to come take a look at the damage tonight so I guess i'll see what happens.
The last thing i want is to get on bad terms with my landlord, so in the end i am sure i will just have to suck it up, but I will leave it in his court first.

We had a snow/wind storm today and piece of wood was ripped off the roof of my building and has hit my car. It made a nice dent on the hood and I estimate $350 damage.

I am just wondering if people think the landlord is responsible to pay for the damage?
