What is the most effective and efficient way to find a deal?

I have tried a number of ways including getting a list on Fivrr, cold calling, driving for dollars, Redfin searching etc. but no deals thus far. I am wondering if I am on the right track and simply need to keep working in this way or if I am expending too much energy on something when there might be a better way.Any advice will be helpful. Question: if you are looking at doing a wholesale deal with a property that is represented by an agent, Is there any any way around a proof of funds since you are not the final buyer? Or another option?
